We're all suckers for conspiracy theories, huh?

Who doesn't want to believe in mystery and deception, dishonesty and heart-pounding secrets kept from the public by some threatening, omniscent force?

But then again, who can believe them?

The more I read the more skeptical I become of some things yet the more certain I also feel of others - what do I truly believe in?

I hope only for peace.

In this world there comes a time when we must shrug off old grievances, remove the cloak of superiority that defines our thoughts, and move forward towards the betterment of society as a whole without the direct need of self-gratifiaction that has become so prominent in today's ideas. Why can we not think ahead, ask ourselves if the end of blood and violence and perpetual warfare may improve the lives of those that succeed us even if it violates our morals. Greatness may in part be defined as dedication to something larger and more glorious than ourselves. Why not now let us all be great?

Let us lay aside the past and begin anew. Let us lead ourselves not to destruction, but to preservation. What need would there be for nuclear weapons in a world where we ignore differnces?

It is all useless hope, I know, but that does not give it any less value than hope so founded on the present.
